Skull Boots

Op-shopping: if you are like me, you love it but you only ever buy things that inspire you, that are beautiful and that are usually crazy one-offs that never go with anything else in your wardrobe.

Therefore, don’t you love it on those rare occasions when you find something at an op-shop that as well as being beautiful –and a bargain - actually fulfils a function?

An example of this, are these awesome skull boots from local my op-shopping institution Mortdale vinnies. They were $15 and were brand new with tags attached from a Goth-looking brand called Demonia.

They are only synthetic and they are actually mens shoes, not ladies – but this is ideal for me, as per my regular complaint that ladies shoes never fit my size 11 feet. These ones are perfect cos they’re a v androgynous style.

It took me a little while to start wearing them because I can’t actually zip them all the way up due to my fat little leggies but once I got over that and realised they look good half-zipped anyway, I realized that they actually go with absolutely everything.

They serve the same function as plain black ankle boots and go with leggings, skirts, trousers and jeans but they are also way more sexypants because they have pointy toes and super-cool skull buckles all the way down the side.

The buckles also clink when I walk so I sound like a cowboy: This pleases me.

I’m wearing them here with:

- Black mesh polka-dot maxi skirt from ASOS last year.
- Black and white striped Breton-style top: Mela Purdie
- Frida necklace: Tatty Devine

  1. Those shoes are amazing! They'll really jazz up any outfit. Also I am loving the Frida necklace. :)

    1. Thanks Sian. The only risk is they will now fall apart due to my wearing them every day this winter! Thank you for your comment - I think you are the first non-direct relation of mine to comment! I love your blog too - and the proliferation of creepers: Creeper Power!

  2. Ohh! Spotted sheer skirt, stripped shirt and skull boots, YES PLEASE! You look amazing!

  3. Wow you got a bargain!! Those boots sell for up to $130 retail!. Now I've seen them styled like this I'm feeling inspired. Fantastic blog xx
