Aussie Curves: LBD

Ok, so everyone needs a Little Black Dress in their wardrobes. They can be a bit staid and boring though so I've pimped out this one with some bold accessories.

My Bedrock meets Brixton leopard-print headband is getting a lotta love from me this summer as with hair as thick as mine that's too short to tie back, it's the perfect way to get my hair up in the heat and look funky at the same time.

The dress itself is my Magic Mike dress from City Chic. With the combination of collar and bare-skin I think it'd make the perfect male stripper outfit.

The shoes I had custom-made a few years ago when travelling in Vietnam. There's a little town called Hoi-An that's famous for their tailors and cobblers: they can custom-make any clothes shoes or boots you want. You'd think if you could custom design your own pair of Roman sandals that feature 26 buckles to do up you might think to have a zipper in the back.....

Nope. I didn't. #EvieFAIL.

Hence I hardly ever wear them as I can't get outta bed early enough to allow the extra 20 minutes of buckling time they take up before you can leave the house.

I'm wearing:

 - Black Halter Zip-collar dress from City Chic
 - Leopard print scarf from Rubi Shoes
 - Black roman sandals custom-made from Vietnam
 - Angular Cat-eye sunnies from Dangerfield
 - Black cropped leggings from Evans
 - Wooden bangle is a hand me down from Mum (ie. I stole it off her but it was like 15 years ago and I think she's surrendered to the idea she'll never see it again)

Anyhoo, it's New Years Eve and I'm off to vegetate on a beach down the South Coast for a week.

Hope you all pash someone hot at midnight. See ya when I get back ;-)

If you like Pina Coladas....

Hope y'all had a good one and that Santa didnt give you too many lumps of coal (even though you totally deserve it, you filthy bitches).

Sorry I've fallen off the blogosphere and off Aussie Curves over the last few weeks as I have been too busy partaking in the merriment of the silly season.

An example of such was our work Christmas party which this year had a 'Hawaiian' theme and so I decided to dress as a pineapple. This is what I wore (obvi).

I'm wearing:

- Lazy Oaf Pineapple Top from ASOS (sorry, they've sold out now but they have other cool stuff by Lazy Oaf too)
- Black mesh polka-dot maxi skirt from ASOS about a year ago
- Skull studded flats from Payless Shoes
- Clear perspex necklace from H & M a while ago when I was living in the UK (you may recognise it as the same as my black one - yes, I got it in two colours cos it's awesome).

HOPE Y'ALL HAVE A KICK-ARSE NOO YEAR!!!!! Are you getting up to anything exciting? I am just planning on being my usual misanthropic hermit self and avoiding NYE mayhem at all cost.

My Mum just returned form a year living in Antarctica (for reals) and the two of us are going away down the south coast for a week to enjoy some Aussie sunshine. So, I plan on spending NYE lying on a quiet beach.

If you're very good I may even post some new shots of my sexy new swimmers.

Anyhoo, have a fabulous new year whatever you get up to. Stay Safe xxxxxx

Aussie Curves: Dark

There've been so many fun and creative interpretations of the word "dark" for this week's Aussie Curves theme but I've decided to be boring and take it literally by wearing all-black with a couple of skulls thrown in for added gloom:

I used to literally live in all-black all the time but these days I find it boring. There's so many great colours and prints out there, I find black a bit restrictive.

What all-black is good for though is playing with different textures. I like to think that's what I was trying to do here with the slinky drape of the skirt, the textured mesh of the hoodie and the soft sheer (fake) chiffon of the top. That's a lie though, I really didn't consider that when putting it together.  It's just what I wore to work one day last week  and threw together while half-asleep and running late in the morning. I think it works though...

I'm wearing:

- Black sheer skull-print top from New Look
- Black drapey skirt from City Chic
- Spikey necklace from Diva
- Black and leopard creepers by Demonia from Clubwear Australia
- Black mesh hoodie from City Chic
- Angular cat-eye sunnies from Dangerfield
